COMMUNITY SERVICE

Wreaths Across America

VFW Post 4190 proudly organizes and hosts the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony in partnership with Wreaths Across America to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans. Each December, members of the community gather at Roselawn Cemetery to help place remembrance wreaths on more than 2,000 gravesites of veterans laid to rest there.

As each wreath is carefully placed and each name remembered, the ceremony becomes more than a tradition — it becomes a promise that the men and women who served our nation will never be forgotten. Families, veterans, students, and volunteers stand side by side in a moving display of remembrance, respect, and gratitude.

Community members may sponsor wreaths for veterans laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery through donations at VFW Post 4190 or directly through the official Wreaths Across America website https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/social/AL0020P-VFWPost4190?Sid=17768%7C15491%7C0%7C4

Forgotten Warrior Project

VFW Post 4190 proudly supports Miss Emma Landrum, a recent high school graduate and Girl Scout Juliette working toward her prestigious Gold Award Project through the Girl Scouts. Miss Landrum's Forgotten Warrior Project is a heartfelt mission dedicated to ensuring no veteran is forgotten. Through countless hours of research and dedication, Ms. Landrum works to identify unmarked veteran graves, secure military grave markers for eligible veterans, and raise funds to ensure marker placement meets cemetery compliance requirements and is completed with dignity and respect.

What began as a local labor of love has continued to grow. Miss Landrum is now working alongside Alabama State Senator Arthur Orr to help expand the effort into a national movement so veterans across America receive the recognition and honor they earned through their service and sacrifice.

VFW Post 4190 is honored to stand beside Miss Landrum in preserving the memory and legacy of our nation’s heroes.

To support the project or make a donation, please contact Ms. Donna Howell at (256) 651-2831 for additional information.

A Flag for Every Veteran

For generations, American flags have stood beside the graves of veterans at Roselawn Cemetery as a visible reminder that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. VFW Post 4190 proudly works year-round to place, maintain, and replace flags honoring the more than 2,000 veterans laid to rest there.

To help support this mission, the Post hosts a weekly pool tournament fundraiser every Thursday at 7:00 PM at VFW Post 4190. The tournament brings veterans, families, and community members together for fellowship and friendly competition while raising funds to purchase replacement flags and supplies needed to continue honoring our veterans with dignity and respect.

Through the support of the community, Post 4190 remains committed to ensuring every veteran at Roselawn Cemetery is remembered and properly honored beneath the American flag they served to defend.
