Welcome to VFW Post 4190, proudly serving veterans, families, and the greater Decatur community. Our post is a place where veterans from all branches and generations come together to connect, to remember, and to continue serving with purpose. From community service and youth programs to veterans advocacy, patriotic events, and fellowship, VFW Post 4190 stands as a welcoming home for all who believe in service above self.


Commander's Corner

Commander Josh Borden

 Josh Borden, current Commander of Lanier-Hine VFW Post 4190 in Decatur, Morgan County, AL, is a Bronze Legacy Life member. He has been a member since 2023, and was elected to serve on the House Committee in 2024. Comrade Borden served in that role for 2 years until he was Elected to serve as Commander in June of 2026.

Comrade Borden joined the U.S. Navy on 24 February 1999.After attending basic training in Great Lakes, Ill, he attended the Construction Electrician  "A" school at Shepard Air Force base in Wichita Falls, TX.

Upon Graduation, Joshua received orders to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four (NMCB4) home ported in Port Hueneme, California. In Febuary 2003 Comrade Borden was deployed to Kuwait in preparation of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On March 19th, Josh crossed the border into Iraqi with the Forward Deployed unit for the initial push to Baghdad.

While in Iraq, Petty Officer 2nd Class (CE2) Borden served as Convoy Security Lead, lead patrols, and was a Forward Observer (FO)  in support of NMCB4 and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (1ST MEF). In September of 2003, CE2 Borden was deployed to Bahrain and Jordan for humanitarian projects. 

Upon arriving back to his home port in 2004, CE2 Borden received an Honorable Discharge and returned home to Alabama.

 

 

 

 

Members, join us every 3rd Monday at 7pm for our monthly meeting.
