Observed annually on May 1, Loyalty Day is a national observance that reaffirms Americans’ loyalty to the United States and recognizes the heritage of American freedom. The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by generations of Americans, especially our veterans and those who continue to serve their communities and country.
During the celebration, Post 4190 honored the 2025 scholarship recipients from both the VFW and the Auxiliary youth programs, recognizing the outstanding achievements and bright futures of local students. Awards were also presented to area Public Servants and Teacher of the Year recipients for their dedication and service to the community.
The evening also included recognition of the VFW and Auxiliary Volunteers of the Year, honoring members whose commitment and countless hours of service continue to strengthen the mission of the organization and support local veterans and families. Throughout the event, volunteers worked tirelessly to prepare and serve dinner to more than 100 guests in attendance, showcasing the fellowship and hospitality that defines Post 4190.
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the presentation of Quilts of Valor to Vietnam veterans of Post 4190. These veterans were recognized not only for their honorable military service and sacrifice during the Vietnam War, but also for their lifelong dedication to supporting fellow veterans through continued service in the VFW.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a national organization dedicated to covering service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. Each handmade quilt symbolizes appreciation, gratitude, and recognition for the sacrifices veterans have made in service to the nation. The presentations served as a heartfelt reminder that the service and sacrifices of Vietnam veterans will never be forgotten.
VFW Post 4190 extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make this year’s Loyalty Day celebration a meaningful success.
